Plants

So, for anyone who is wondering, these are the plants that I want to use in my back yard.

This is the Japanese Privet. I want it along the sidewalk to the gate (Karin, this is what you have). They are a shapeable hedge and they get these flowers in the spring. They look kind of like a lilac (my favorite flower), and since I can't grow lilacs in AZ...

This is the purple lantana I want around the border with (the next plant) the asparagas fern. Both are trailing plants and will "spill" over the edge of the retaining wall.

This is the Asparagas Fern

This is the Bougainvillea sp. 'Raspberry Ice'. The leaves are variegated which will add some extra color to the yard. This one is sort of a dwarf variety, so it won't get as huge as some of the others do.

I also want one each of a lemon, a lime and an orange tree.

Back-yard Dreams

This is what I want to do with our back yard. So far it is just dirt with the shed and the little 16 x 8 patio. I have to do the front yard first, but I am not sure what I want to do with it. This I have had in my head for the past month.

Family Room

This is our family room. We painted it the Taupe color too. The furniture is just our odds and ends. We put our matching stuff in the living room. Someday we will get some new stuff for the living room and move our black couches in here. I also need to put some decorations on the walls still. The curtains on the sliding door are thanks to Karin. I really like them but, unfortunately, they will have to be just temporary because the beige in them is too yellow for the walls :(

Moving to Arizona

This is a little old, but I still wanted to post it.

This is from our drive down to Arizona from Utah in April. At this point Hyrum had thrown up twice and I was starting to think that he might be getting car sick. So, we started taking frequent rest stops. It didn't help for long though, he threw up 3 more times. By the last hour of the trip he was screaming and sleeping off and on. I felt so bad for the little guy, but I knew there wasn't much I could do for him on the side of the road. Both of the kids were glad to get out of the car for a little while. Hyrum wanted to take all of the little rocks with him.

The Kids' Rooms

This is Hyrum's room. We are going with a surfer theme. The fan has surfboard decals on each blade and, yes, that is a grass skirt around his crib. Eventually I will paint his room, but I am not sure what colors to use yet. And there are more decals to use that are palm trees and phrases like "surf's up".

This is Josi's room. Eventually I am going to paint pink stripes with butterflies in 'chocolate' vinyl. Her curtains and her ceiling fan are both pink with white butterflies.

Dining Room

We painted a taupe color here and in the kitchen and family room. We also changed the light fixture and put up blinds. One left to do. I am going to paint the table black and we are waiting for Target to get my chairs in.

Living Room

This is our living room. We added the light fixture and we still have blinds and decorations to put up.

Our New House

We are now proud home owners! Ben got transfered back to the Phoenix, AZ plant with work. We just moved in on April 25th and there has been a lot of work to do on it. I will gradually add pictures as we finish it. This picture was taken over a year ago when it first went up for sale.
